Hailing from Pleasant Point, Christina is the current Senior Women’s Heptathlon Champion for Oceania, NZ, South Island, Canterbury and Otago – whew !!.
In Christina’s words:
“My ambition is to qualify for two major international events in 2019, the Oceania Track and Field and Combined Events Championships in Townsville, Australia and potentially in the Heptathlon at the World University Games in Naples, Italy. The support and encouragement from this scholarship will assist me in being able to compete at more qualifying events.
I have improved significantly over the last 12 months which has put me in a stronger position to qualify for these international events and represent NZ. I currently live and train locally and am going to be taking up full time athletics training in Timaru this year. I support my athletics club through providing coaching to the younger athletes across all events and I believe I am a passionate role model for athletics. I hope to use my degree in sports coaching in some local sport development role in the future”.
