One of New Zealand’s top young squash players, with a current NZ ranking of 6th in NZ u17 girls, Lili has been part of the NZ Emerging Players Squad for the past two years. Having won numerous regional titles, Lili is currently the top ranked junior and ranked in the top three Senior Women’s for the Midlands District (Mid Canterbury/South Canterbury/North Otago).
Lili is one very committed sportswoman which is evident in her words:
“As part of being in the NZ Emerging Players Squad I have to attend training camps which are based in Auckland. My coach is based in Wellington and once a month I travel to Wellington to train with him for four days, he is also in Timaru monthly training the wider Midlands squad but I get extra lessons with him at my own expense. Due to the level at which I am playing, this year I will have to play outside the district to get the competition I need and in addition to this there are certain tournaments I am required to play in being the Auckland Open, Oceania Champs (Auckland), NZ Junior Open (Tauranga), NZ Senior Nationals (Auckland) and NZ Junior Nationals (Auckland). I am also playing in the Australian Junior Open (Sydney) and am part of the NZ Development Team that is going to Malaysia this July”.
“I have all of 2019 and 2020 as a junior so this season I want to make A Grade, currently B1 and 2020 push for selection into the NZ Teams for Junior Worlds (top 4 juniors)”.
“I train hard and am focused on giving it my best shot in achieving my goal. I believe I am a good role model for all juniors coming through the system and am passionate about the sport I love”.
